Winter Window Cleaning tips

It that time of the year that most of us hate. The temps drop and the business slows down Most people think of window cleaning when it is sunny and warm but as you and I know anytime is good for us.
So as the temps drop here are a few tips to stay dry and warm. Lets start with clothes. When I went through survival training in Gunnison CO (one of the coldest spots in the nation) I had an instructor who was an avid Patagonia fan. You only need three layers to stay warm in winter. Base layer, insulation and shell. The base layer which is against your skin needs to be a material that can breath or move moister from you body. Patagonia makes 4 different base layers R1-R4. The temp determines which base layer to wear. Your second layer is you insulation, this is what keeps the core of your body ( heart, lungs ) warm. Best materials are down, fleece, wool or polartec. Patagonia calls there fleece Syncillia, it traps air between fibers to insulate. The final layer is the shell. This is the layer that keeps you dry and shields you from the elements outside. It needs to be made of a breathable waterproof material. If you keep the core of your body warm your hands and feet (longest distance from the heart) will stay warm. The weather determines how many layers you wear and you can remove layers as the weather warms up. Some days are 3 layer days and some are just one.
